Hello world, my name is Nathan Safran—I am a former Analyst at Forrester Research where I covered the Digital Home. While at Forrester I authored research studies on trends, consumer attitudes and behaviors
toward technology adoption and use. I have been quoted in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, USA Today and Fortune magazine.
True Marketing Requires a Deep Understanding of Human Psychology
I started this blog as I have a particular interest in the place where business, technology and psychology intersect. Specifically, how the elements of human behavior influence product design, adoption, marketing and PR.
My hypothesis is that this angle will be of interest to the tech/business community. I offer as evidence the fact that so much is written about Apple and how they design and market their products. Sure, there’s interest because of their unprecedented success but so much is written in the tech community about how they design products to elicit an emotional response from the user, how they operate their public relations based on their understanding of human psychology and more.I plan to write about technology—mobile, the Digital Home, Social, the tech startup scene and anything else I find of interest in the tech world. Although I’ve blogged before at Forrester and Conductor this is my first effort heading out on my own, so feedback is most appreciated.
Although the domain this blog is found, exceljockey.com, might not make the most sense for the subject matter I had previously registered it and like the sound of it. Many thanks to a friend who blogs on finance at exceljockeys.com (with an ‘s’) and who ultimately pushed me into finally starting to blog.
Looking forward to participating in the ongoing conversation.

Specifically, I agree that Apple will be challenged to persuade consumers to pay a premium for an Apple TV. Apple knows that and knows it's no simple task. That's why if they do come out with a TV they'll look to persuade consumers across multiple fronts. [...]
